Reddit Ragers!

Hey guys,

Recently I found out there was a “sub-reddit” for “RuneScape”

After navigating my way to the correct page and having monitored other “redditers” posts I began to realise the majority of the posts we’re either “begging” or “I’ve been hacked” then just a whole lot of abusive comments to follow… This really frustrated me, as the “RuneScape reddit” has so much potential, if only the posts we’re genuine, helpful or even interesting…

I then began to give it ago myself! My first post being on the double experience weekend of March 2010, the post was “Woot 94 Herblore!” I had immediate feedback! But wasn’t surprised to find that it was all negative, that I we’re boasting and if there we’re no screen shots then it didn’t happen? Surely if they we’re after proof they could simply check my adventures log. But no, just for the sake of an argument and trying to look clever over the internet they decided to rage at me.

Thus my genius idea! Having found that nearly every post on the “RuneScape reddit” had views and comments I decided why not use this to my advantage, as my goal was to generate traffic and views on my RuneScape blog. So I began to post catchy titles which all linked to pages on my blog! To my surprise the results we’re outstanding! Generating 461 views and 28 comments on my blog in less then 3 hours! And any abusive comments received I was able to remove, block or delete! So thank you Raging Redditers, for making my blog more popular throughout the internet! 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this!

RuneScape Update (Auras)

An Aura is an item that can be bought as part of the Members Loyalty Programme. Activated auras can be purely cosmetic, offer a combat bonus or used to activate a special effect. An aura can be activated by using the “Activate aura” option on an equipped aura. When activated, a glow will appear around the player. The effect has been compared to the appearance of it snowing around the player.

Auras are classified in four different classes, which is shown by the red circles in the ring of the aura. All of the current auras are class 1 except Jack of Trades, which is class 2. It is expected that Jagex will release class three and class four auras in future updates.

An aura offers a temporary effect, which cannot be paused. Removing an aura will stop the effect, and reduce the remaining time to zero. You can check the remaining time left by right-clicking an equipped aura and choosing ‘Aura time remaining’. Also, if the account using an aura is logged out while the aura is activated, the timer will continue to run out.

Auras have a cooldown time, are untradable and cannot be used in PvP activities or Daemonheim.

Auras can be purchased, and replaced if they have been lost, from Xuan. You can find Xuan in Burthorpe near the Warriors’ Guild in Burthrope. An easy way to access him is by using the teleport to Troll Invasion available through theGames necklace.

If an aura is removed or deactivated prematurely, the Cooldown period is that of the remaining duration of the Aura plus that of the cooldown period. For example, if the “Reverance” aura (1 hour activation and 3 hour cooldown) is removed immediately after activation, the cooldown will state 4 hours before you may reactivate. If the aura had 40 minutes left to work, and a cooldown time of 3 hours before it was taken off the player, the recharge of the aura would take 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Poison Purge aura.png Poison purge Cuts total poison damage by half. 00:05:00 01:00:00 2,750
Friend in Need aura.png Friend in need Summons Party Pete to distract your foe using the medium of dance. Distracted foes suffer a delay to their next attack. Does not work in PvP and does not affect all foes. 00:00:13 00:15:00 3,500

Call of the Sea aura.png Call of the sea Increases your chance of catching fish. 01:00:00 03:00:00 5,000
Reverence aura.png Reverence Slows down prayer drain and increases prayer restoration from potions. 01:00:00 03:00:00 5,000
Surefooted.png Surefooted Prevents you from failing obstacles if you are on an agility course. 00:20:00 02:00:00 5,000
Jack of Trades aura.png Jack of trades Get XP in 10 different skills within 3 hours to receive a bonus XP reward, which can be earned by speaking to Xuan. Until you claim your reward, any XP gained in addition to that needed to earn a reward in the first place will not count towards a further reward. 03:00:00 24:00:00 15,000

One the release date of the Auras I used my first 500 loyalty points on the Reverence Aura. I’ve found it extremely beneficial when bossing, especially bandos my curses last much longer and super prayer potions combined with Reverence and holy wrench heal 47 of your prayer points! It’ll be interesting to see what new Auras become avaliable to us in the future.

Corporeal Beast (duo) – Slightly odd method

For long I’ve wanted to defeat the Corporeal Beast. And after countless Solo attempts I decided to accept the help of a friend (I Kingace I) collectively with our stats (Matlocked) we’ve adopted a method which seems to work pretty well, it allows us to keep the whole process reasonably cheap without the expense of Saradomin Brews.

The Method:

Firstly the two of us setup our inventories and armour slots to look like this..

From there we teleport using our Games Necklace, to the Corporeal beast. We then run through the open caves until we reach the door of the beast. From here we both pot up and lure the beast closer to where we’re standing.

Now, the person who didn’t lure the beast enters the room and sets up the required prayers. The beast won’t attack this person as it is only aggressive to the lurer at this point, when the beast is finally attacked by the non-lurer the fight will begin. (screenshot below showing the beast un-aggressive)

(Note: if all fighters leave the room of the Corporeal beast, it’s life points will be fully restored meaning one of us must remain in the boss room at all times.)

When the first fighter is running low on supplies the original lurer enters and begins to help, the person who is low on supplies, then teleports out to get another inventory of food while the other stays to fight, before quickly teleporting back. Having re-entered the boss room the roles are then reversed, each teleporting alternatively to restock ensuring the beast is never left alone, this is continued untill the beast is dead.

This method really does make the Corporeal beast look easy, it takes just a few minutes to kill and could be so profitable especially with the low costing supplies we use. Ryan and I shall continue to do this untill we recieve something amazing!

Hope you guys enjoyed this!

Skype

I’m not sure how you guys communicate with your friends while on RuneScape, whether you just talk in-game of whether you decide to use something like Teamspeak, Mumble, MSN, or Skype. For years now Skype has been my best friend whilst on RuneScape, giving me the ability to communicate with friends making bossing, slayer, boring skilling and mini-games more fun.

If you are have yet to explore verbal communications with RuneScape I’d strongly recommend Skype, with its fantastic call quality and easy functionality its my number one choise.

If you use another communication source that I’ve not mentioned I’d be very interested to know what it is!

Account Types

Struggling to decide what type of account to make? Hopefully this guide will spark a few ideas off for you.

There are many different account types in Runescape. These account types are suggested by Runescape with  updates and quests this gives people the incentive to get certain items at the lowest level possible therefore being a low-level yet super effective against other average players with the same combat level either in the wilderness or skilling around Runescape.

Throughout my years of playing I’ve tried many account types and have experienced the advantages and disadvantages. Here’s a few examples of account types (note: there’s a lot more than shown):

  • Typical Main account where all statistics are trained to gain the highest total level

https://jagexblogger.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/my-stats.png

  • Level 3 skiller account, no-combat statistics are trained purely skill orientated

Image

  • 1 Defence pure, combat account generally a player-killer but remains 1 defence

  • 20 defence pure, combat orientated 20 defence with 52 prayer for smite

  • Rune pure, generally F2p with 40 defence and high strength

  • Void/ Berserker pure, combat account with 42-48 defence turmoil prayers and created correctly all defence levels can be gained from quests eg; Dragon slayer, Defender of Varrock etc.

  • Barrows pure, 70-75 defence. Combat orientated ability to wield most armours a higher level account close to that of a main

  • Range/ Mage tank, range and magic based account with attack and strength generally kept between 70-75. Account is very effective and high a contender against mains

  • Unique accounts, accounts where they’re trained to look great! accounts such as 10hp pures or 99 hitpoints pures here’s an example of this type of account, this account is level 40-50

Like I said these are only a few examples there are plenty more account types you could try, these are just a few ideas for you to work off, hope this helped you guys!

Botters Mate Like Rabbits

Botters are literally taking over, everywhere you go 90% of the time you’ll stumble upon a botter. It seems today there’s almost a bot for everything! But what seems to be one of the most common ones to me personally is the “Turoth Slayer” bot, take a look at this picture..

This picture was taken by my friend I Kingace I

As you can see, things have got a bit out of hand.. I can only presume the bots are here to make money. As Turoths drop good amounts of herbs making them a good source of cash. These bots in my opinion are the result of RWT (real-world-trading) I’d imagine these are the bots of RS gold websites of which they use to make the money which they sell on.

Surely this problem can be sorted? I don’t think botting could get anymore obvious then this…

If you know any other areas where botting is a big problem I’d be grateful if you posted below!

Hope you enjoyed,

Matlocked

Super Prayer Potions Summerised

Bonemeal.png + Prayer potion.PNG = Super prayer.png

Super prayer potions require level 94 Herblore to make and are made by grinding wyvern bones at the Ectofuntus in Mortanyia and adding them to a normal
Prayer potion (3). They yield 270 each.

At humanly rates you can:
Grind bones @ 300/hr
Mix potions @ 1800/hr

All Calculations are done based on 99 prayer.

Prayer potions restore 31 prayer points per dose
Super Prayer potions restore 41 prayer points per dose
Super restore potions restore 32 prayer points per dose

Prices subject to change. Click the link for more information on prices.

Prayer potions cost 77.47 GP per Prayer point
Super prayer potions cost 99.56 GP per Prayer point
Super restore potions cost 138.72 GP per Prayer point

It takes around 10 seconds to put an offer in for 1000 Prayer potion (4), which will restore 124,000 prayer points

It takes 5 hours and 26 minutes to buy 1333 prayer potion (3) & grind 1333 Wyvern bones & to mix 1333 super prayer potion & decant them.
This amounts to 5 hours and 26 minutes spent making 1000 Super prayer potions (4) which will restore 164,000 prayer points. Also, you will gain about 360k herblore xp (270 xp each).

It takes around 10 seconds to put an offer in for 1000 Super restore potion (4), which will restore 128,000 prayer points

Obviously, you are limited to trips by your inventory. Super prayer potions give much greater flexibility in devising inventory for bosses and slayer tasks.

You will be able to stay at bosses and slayer tasks approximately 25% longer if you use super prayer potions to restore your prayer. Super prayer potions would be worth it only if you spend more time banking and getting ready for trips then you do making the super potions.

Now, put in smaller scale terms for a task to task basis:

It takes 3 minutes and 18 seconds to make 10 super prayer restore potions that will restore 1640 prayer points

Alternatively it takes no time to buy 13.25 prayer potions that will restore 1705 prayer points

Summary
Personally I felt they were unnecessary  for slayer tasks as I can do any slayer task (including 250 dark beasts) in one trip without super prayer potions.
and actually finding out how much time it takes to make them really finalized my decision. All slayer tasks can be gotten to in less than 3 minutes (from Kuradal at least) if you are worried about not being able to finish a task without banking or without giving up a more useful familiar such as a healer or a combat familiar. The only place I could see them being of good use is extraordinarily high kill counts at Solo Bandos or Armadyl (40+ and 20+, respectively), since each trip requires a lengthy kill count and obviously more time spent in the boss room is less time spent banking.

For information on temporarilly boosting your Herblore level refer to my Temporary Boost guide!

I hope this helped you!
